Mercury 115 Pro XS

Like other hp performance motors, the Pro XS is available in inch and inch shaft lengths, but the available Command Thrust gearcase is a feature no other outboard brand offers. The 4. More blade area and the lift provided by the larger case can improve the performance of hulls such as vee-bottom multi-species boats and fiberglass bass boats. All these options plus the wide selection of Mercury props make it possible to really dial in optimal performance for any boat.

Anglers who prefer increased boat space and other benefits provided by tiller handles can fit the Pro XS with a Mercury Big Tiller. The ergonomic design of the Big Tiller delivers all-day comfort, with throttle, shift, steering and trim control all close at hand. The Big Tiller also features digital troll control as an optional upgrade that can be used to adjust trolling speed at idle in rpm increments to accommodate wind and current, and achieve perfect bait presentation.

On boats with remote controls, digital troll control can be activated through a number of SmartCraft gauges and displays. The Pro XS is compatible with a full suite of Mercury SmartCraft features, including Engine Guardian operator-warning system and new VesselView Mobile that uses an available Bluetooth module to transmit maintenance reminders, performance information and diagnostic information directly to a smart phone or tablet.

Having the right fit for your vessel is integral to ensuring you get the most out of your motor. Most times, the factory-installed model isn't ideal, and installing an after-market option can mean a noticeable increase in acceleration and top speed.

It easily outperforms other models designed for trolling motors in both speed and acceleration.

It is forged from crack-resistant, stainless-steel and can be used interchangeably with a variety of engine types. With a through-hub exhaust system and a combination of front and rear elements, it can achieve top-shelf torque distribution and mid-range speed. On top of that, a five-step, powder-coated finish guarantees a long service life.

Its ability to absorb the impacts and stresses of shifting gears helps protect your lower unit in the long run. Because its blades have a progressive rake, they move with less resistance in the water, meaning you can venture even farther with the fuel in your tank. Though cast from aluminum, it is durable and handles as well as, or better than, more expensive steel models in day-to-day situations.

Engineered to provide extra stern lift, this is a great choice for offshore, center console boats and vessels with a stepped hull. Featuring the best of both worlds, it's one of the best aluminum-made models out there and compatible with a wide range of motors. Powertech OFS4 Smooth and efficient -- though expensive -- this propeller has a thru-hub exhaust system, which allows emissions to pass through a specially designed barrel instead of coming into contact with the blades.

In larger boats, this can help increase top speed and avoid blade corrosion. May 10, The key thing to choosing the right propeller for your powerboat is finding the sweet spot between your engine's wide-open throttle operating range measured in rpm and the pitch of a propeller. The pitch is how far in inches the propeller moves in one revolution.

If you are over-revving, it means you should move up in pitch and vice versa.Selecting the best prop for your boat can be a mind-boggling task, given the number of prop options available for most outboard-powered rigs, and the number of variables to be considered. This well-worn Lund Fisherman was our test platform. The Mercury outboard is a motor that runs well with an aluminum or stainless steel propeller. The yellow paint indicates that these props from Merc engineering have been perfectly trued.

We changed props on the water to save time. Always have a spare prop nut handy when you do this. They are attracted to water. Electronic gear collected data for our test, but you can do a good job with a simple GPS and a stop watch.

Matching the propeller to your application, whether cruising, water skiing or performance, maximizes the power from your engine. It also helps with handling and acceleration.

Use this guide to learn how different propeller designs affect efficiency, power, and speed and then learn how to choose the correct prop for your boat and application. The propeller has a hub surrounded by blades of the same length and size. The blades are twisted so that they push water toward the rear as they turn. This pushing is what propels the boat forward in the water.

Most blades rotate in a right hand clockwise direction when viewed from the rear. Left hand propellers are paired with a right hand propeller in dual-engine installations to keep the boat stable and reduce steering effort. All props will be described by two numbers, such as 13 x Those numbers are the diameter and pitch. Diameter is the overall size of the blade as measured from the tips. A large diameter propeller can push more water than a small diameter propeller, creating more power.

Diameter is predetermined by the manufacturer for a family of products. Your prop selection will be focused on the pitch.

Why you should choose Mercury Propellers Spitfire X7

Pitch is the distance the propeller will move the boat after one revolution not accounting for slip. A lower pitched propeller will create more power due to more engine RPMs, but the boat will move slower. A higher pitched prop allows the boat to move faster by travelling a farther distance with each rotation. When choosing a propeller, choose a pitch that will keep the engine RPM in its recommended operating range.

Going under the range will cause the boat to lug, while going over can cause engine strain. Blades have other important features built into their design.Back to top. View in: Desktop. Curious what motor, prop, electronics most got when purchasing this boat. Also what is the top speed? Replies 4. Options Top. I bought one in October I have a 4-stroke Yamaha with a 20P powertech prop. The top speed I've seen on the gps was 47, but 45 is what I top out at in normal conditions.

My boat has lowrance elite 7's at the console and front deck. Replies 0. I've had mine for 2. Got the 2 stroke merc I still haven't put any electronics in it mainly because I never used what I had in my old boat. BTW I love my rt Fan St.

Charles, The Community Member since May posts. Mine will be 2yo in September. Camo, dual console, with the SHO. Pretty sure it has a 19 pitch Yamaha prop that came stock from Ranger. Added a camo Powerpole, HDS 7 touch on the console, Elite 5 on the bow, upgraded to the 80 Fortex, bimini top, blinker trim, hot foot, an hour meter on the console, and put a Boss radio into the speedometer hole with two custom speaker boxes where the step up to the front deck.

With all the extra weight and my family of 4, usually runs mphs top speed at rpm. A lot of guys say it should be pushing rpm but it runs fine for my liking. Replies 1. I bought mine in February this year. It has the Mercury command thrust and came with a 24p Tempest.

Top speed has been 47 mph but I'm only getting to 5, rpm's. I have the Elite 7 in the console and trying to decide what to put upfront.Back to the main site.

Finally, Mercury makes a pontoon specific prop!

Thread starter spinzone Start date Aug 8, From www. Four blades allow Mercury Marine engineers to increase the blade area of the propeller while keeping the diameter low, which allows the propeller to spin up quickly and improve acceleration. This formula provides outstanding acceleration and holding without compromising top speed.

Spitfire was designed from the ground up to be the best-handling aluminum propeller on the market. Spitfire features an extra cup design coupled with a straight trailing edge — similar to cleaver propellers used on race boats. Together they hold the water even in the tightest maneuvers.

Our engineers delivered just that, while retaining the top-end speed that people have gotten from the Black Max. The Spitfire Pontoon models — considered the best pontoon propeller in the Mercury lineup — feature extra holding and lift to take pontoon boats to a new level of performance. Availability The Spitfire propellers for hp standard gearcase engines are available now.

The Spitfire Pontoon propellers will be available in October, with the and hp outboard propellers becoming available at the end of the year. I sold my vengeance prop to a buddy on the lake so I'll be looking for something better before next season.

Messages Reaction score 6 Location Indiana. Just wanted to add I am using the Enertia on mine, holes plugged, and it is working awesome. Pulls great out of the hole with no slippage, and turns tight and hard with no ventilation at all with motor 1 hole up. I have needed a 4 blade on boats I have had, but don't see that need on my GLi. But I would understand for the smaller engine boats, and for guys wanting to use aluminum, the Spitfire would surely be a big improvement over over the old standard Black Max.
