We went hunting woodcock with the Saba side-by-side, a Sabatti entry level shotgun at the right price. The gun is available in 12, 20 or gauge with a wide range of barrel lengths and chokes. A simple side-by-side shotgun, good value for money. A gem for the hunter who wants to live his passion for hunting woodcock in the woods with his dog by his side. These opinions have given us something to talk about during many fine evenings down at the inn, filled who knows how many pages of old magazines and today, account for an infinite number of digital characters.
Taking a closer look at it, the barrels of the Sabatti SABA side-by-side hunting shotgun are forged, bored and ground out of Chromium-Molybdenum solid steel bar; the insides of the barrels are then lapped and chromed. The action is machined by orario 1 c lsu tools from a solid block of forged high-resistance steel, case hardening and tempered after being engraved. The stock is made of select walnut with a pistol or English grip available on request.
The user can also choose the type of ejector to use, manual or automatic, and a single or double trigger system. The gauge weighs 3 kg, and the smaller bores 2.
We tested the gun hunting woodcock at the foot of the Dolomite mountains from the middle to the end of October, and we were pleasantly surprised by the side-by-side with its balanced, well-built design. Above all it proved to be both reliable and effective. The length and the drop of the stock, in particular, are perfect for a fluid, fast swing even in the most difficult situations, quickly putting the game in your sights.
The trigger and safety systems are strong and flawless, while the shot patterns were homogeneous with a well-distributed spread from every shot. The tests with paper targets were done using No. The recoil gives you a sharp kick, typical of short, lightweight guns, and does require a little practice to keep the gun on target for a second shot, if necessary.
By way of compensation, fast point shooting is when this gun really comes into its own. For more information on the Saba side-by-side, visit Sabatti website. It has chrome lined barrels and case colored action. It's stamped on the barrel that it was imported by Kassnar Imports of Harrisburg Pa. It has sentimental value so I'm not really looking for how much it's worth. I am interested in knowing something about manufacture and dependablity. Anyone know anything about this make of shotgun?

As long as you maintain it properly, it will last a lifetime. Be careful, though, as parts availability is almost nonexistant.

I have had some mechanical issues about 10 years ago it was doubling that I had corrected. No ejectors although it was an option. I'm thinking of selling it now. Each year we spend a week at the range torture testing the newest guns on the market. The years and years of testing have given us a mountain of data that serves as the ultimate buyer's guide for gun nuts. In this gallery we ranked the 30 best shotguns to hit the market in the last 10 years.
To round out the list are all of the honorable mentions. Whether intended for the trap field, a sporting clays course or the uplands, the DNA of these fine guns remains the same. Compared to any other shotgun of a similar price, the guns of Caesar Guerini are practically in a class of their own. The quality of the wood, the detail and aesthetics of the engraving, the innovative features, the intelligent design, and the customer service provided by the company are the reasons these guns are such good values and why they end up winning the coveted "Editor's Choice" award so regularly.
The Ellipse Evo Light stole the show at our last gun test and if you read the review you'll understand why. It embodies everything we wanted to see in a classic bird gun. Trigger Pull: 4 lb. From the Gun Test: If by some alchemy you could distill the essence of an upland bird gun and give it physical form, it might look something like the Ellipse Evo Light from Caesar Guerini, a sexy stunner that took top honors in this year's hotly contested shotgun evaluation.
The solid ribbing on the barrels, which are topped with a single brass bead, give the gun a clean, uncluttered elegance and contrast pleasantly with the gorgeous wood and handsome extensive engraving on the coin-finished receiver. Plus the guns that run them are heavier, clumsier and more expensive. The M2, by contrast, is about as ideal an autoloader for all-around shotgunning as you're going to find. Whether you're into ducks, upland game, 3-gun competition or busting clays, the M2 is equal to the task.
Trigger Pull: 5 lb. From the Gun Test: Viewed from a distance, Benelli's new M2 does not give the impression of a shotgun you'd be proud to be seen with.
It's a black thing foam butt to screw-in choke, and the molded-composition stocks look out of place on an autoloading shotgun costing more than a thousand bucks. But look closer and you'll see some well-thought-out features on gun that was obliviously engineered to be shot rather than looked at. And shoot it we did, round after round of skeet. As empty shells piled up at the stations, our shotgun test team became increasingly convinced that the M2 is an exceptionally shootable gun.
Remington Versa Max John's Take: The new Versa Max autoloader from Remington employs an ingeniously simple system--the hull of the shotshell--to properly regulate the amount of gas used to cycle the action.
The shotgun itself adjusts easily for length of pull, drop, cast and comb height and has excellent recoil-reduction features. It is built to withstand the rigors of the most challenging bird hunting and I anticipate it will join the pantheon of classic autoloading shotguns.
Trigger Pull: 6 lb. Indifferent workmanship, tough and gritty triggers, odd design elements and reliability issues are just some of the features common in many of these would-be bargains. The Redhead, by contrast, is a winner by every measure. It pointed great, looked good and ran very well. In my mind it is still the standard by which other entry-level double guns are to be judged. Trigger Pull: 7 lb.
Ejection of spent cases was crisp and positive. The only criticism mentioned was the too-heavy trigger pull.Browse categories Directory Blog Login Register. Sell My Shotgun. Air Guns.

Apr 18, 1. I saw this. It has really good iron sights for plinking, far and away the best of the. The maker is Kassner. It's tempting. The thing is, I can't seem to find out any info on Kassner. Theya re out of business, I think. I checked all the usual sites Gunbroker. Before I'd even seriously consider buying it, I'd want at least two spare magazines. Does anyone know anything about Kassner? CyranoApr 18, Apr 18, 2. From the blue book:Kassnar imports inc. Kassnar Imports operation ceased april, Kassnar also imported Churchill and Omega shotguns which can be found in their individual sections.
Apr 20, 3. The only thing it would consistenly do is get stuck when attempting to take it off of safety. It had the selector switch on the safety, so when you took it off, you could pick upper or lower barrel.
Problem was, it would go straight ahead, and you'd end up just yanking on the trigger and watching the pheasant fly away without a shot fired. Oh, and it's Kassnar, not Kassner. That might be the reason you weren't having any luck finding any info. PaperApr 20, Registered users: cutcher, albanygun, Bamaskeetshooter, Banshee, Bill M. Posted: Sat Dec 24, pm. It even seemed to kick me when it was still in the case!
Haven't shot it all that much considering I've had it for about 20 years. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with these guns. Good hunting and good luck. Posted: Mon Dec 26, pm. FIAS was the maker. I think they just use the Sabatti name now. Posted: Tue Dec 27, am.
Thanks guys. That looks like mine. For a while there, I thought it might be one of a kind. Mine has a rather unremarkable piece of blonde walnut on it that I may refinish and darken a bit. It's a good gun and I need to shoot it more. I'm getting to the point where I can't shoot all of my guns in one season. Hey, that's good, isn't it!
